The FascinAsian Film Festival acknowledges that we live and work in the territories of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Dakota, Dene, and Oji-Cree Nations, and the heartland of the Metis people. Treaty 1, signed in 1871, took this territory from seven local Anishinaabe First Nations to make the land available for settler use and ownership. We thank the First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities that have cared for Turtle Island since the beginning. With this acknowledgment, we remind ourselves of discriminatory, racist, and colonial practices that have and continue to create barriers for Indigenous peoples and communities across Turtle Island.
