Join us for an intimate and engaging discussion with the Writer/Director of Things I Do For Money, Warren Sonoda. Hosted by local actor/host and writer/filmmaker Chelsey Mark. Warren and Chelsey will discuss the themes explored in the movie, and what it takes to be a working Director in Canada.

Chelsey Mark is an actor, writer, filmmaker and host. He has booked roles on Amazon Prime’s Tales from the Loop (2019), CBC’s Burden of Truth (2019), APTN’s Tribal (2019) and feature film The First Encounter (2019). Chelsey was selected for the Whistler Indigenous Fellowship at the Whistler Film Festival (2019) and was a finalist in the Gimli Film Festivals RBC Pitch Competition (2020) for his short, The Callback. Chelsey has received funding to write the 1st draft of his feature film Skate like a Girl. His short Vengeance (2020) Won Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Actor in the Winnipeg Film Groups 48-hour film competition.

BAFTA-winning and Emmy and CSA-nominated filmmaker Warren P. Sonoda is known for directing his features Coopers’ Camera, Swearnet: The Movie, Ham & Cheese, the iconic TV shows Trailer Park Boys, This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Murdoch Mysteries, Odd Squad, Utopia Falls and over 160 music videos, 80 episodes of TV and 11 feature films. Japanese-Canadian Sonoda is also the first person of colour to be elected as the National President of the Directors Guild of Canada in 2020, sits on the Visioning Board of BIPOC TV & Film, is Chair of the Canadian Film Fest, knocked Martin Scorsese out of the Guinness Book of World Records, has a medal from the Queen, has a rescue dog from Mexico named Scruffie and is thrilled to unveil his new genre-bending passion-project crime/cello/caper movie Things I Do For Money at the FascinAsian Film Festival in 2021.
